Where We Belong
SUBMISSIONS TO THE 2024 USYD ANTHOLOGY ARE NOW OPEN!
Writers of USYD, we’re excited to announce the call for submissions for the Sydney University Anthology 2024!
The theme this year is ‘Belonging’. We are looking for pieces that open our eyes and mind to the world bigger than us.
Belonging is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, influencing our sense of identity, community and place in the world. Whether alone or in a group, we all seek to be a part of something outside ourselves, something bigger. As humans we crave connections and disconnections.
Beyond the struggle of squeezing yourself into a square space or colouring inside the lines, belonging is more than a sense of fitting in. It is about how you’re seen, heard, and valued for who you truly are. And maybe then you realise you already belonged.
“That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald
We look forward to experiencing your interpretations of belonging and the rich tapestry of narratives and imagery that will emerge from this exploration.
We welcome submissions of prose and poetry and we encourage writers from all backgrounds and experience levels to engage with the theme in a meaningful way.
Submit your poetry, short fiction, or short non-fiction here.
